Registration will open on November 17, 2025. All registrations must be completed by February 27, 2026.
All competitions will be conducted online. Students must submit their videos or artwork by February 27, 2026. Award winners will be announced on March 20, 2026, on the Chinese Language Fair website and by email. Awards will be presented at the closing ceremony on April 16.
There is a nonrefundable $6 fee per student to participate in the Chinese Language Fair. Attendance is limited to 300 participants. All students attending the event in person are required to pay this fee. Those who are only participating in the online competition and will not attend the event in person do not need to pay. Teachers may complete group registrations on the registration page. No registration fee is required for teachers or chaperones.
Teachers, parents, chaperones, and students are welcome to bring their own lunch or pre-order lunch (optional) on the registration page. Optional lunch includes a Chick-fil-A sandwich, a bag of chips, chocolate chip cookies, and a water bottle, $12.50. There will be no on-site registration, and no payments for food will be taken after the registration deadline. Cash or check payments will not be accepted. We apologize for any inconvenience. If students and teachers do not opt to pre-order lunch, they are asked not to leave the fair to buy lunch on campus. The Chinese Language Fair occurs during the exam preparation day, and BYU students will be studying. We ask that you respect the structure of the fair and stay in the buildings where the activities are being held.
Our language fair welcomes K–12 students to campus. This event falls under the category of an Authorized Educational Visit according to the Minor Protection Policy (https://policy.byu.edu/view/minor-protection-policy), defined as:
- Visit to campus by a school or similar educational group
- Visit is less than 8 hours in length
- Primary supervision of minors is the responsibility of the school group
- Group signs an agreement with BYU acknowledging intent to supervise minors
Therefore, schools will need to sign the Authorized Educational Visit Agreement attached below and return it to us for verification. This should be signed by the School/Organization Representative, normally the teacher who will bring students to the event. If you have registered for the event, please email the signed agreement back to chinesesectionbyu@gmail.com by February 27, the registration deadline.
